I bought the two camera method and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent by way of two.4ghz. RF (the wireless element). You can mount the small DVR anywhere that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den subsequent to my recliner, but, you can move it very easily if you have to have to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is good to have!
If you need to have power outage protection, you will need to install a ups power outlet for every single camera (use one for a laptop or computer and hook the camera provide into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the program and installed 2 cameras in an afternoon without having any strain. It did take a small arranging, but, it was seriously straightforward.
It is a lot less expensive than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the images (even soon after dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and operating for a single month and it is amazing...the picture good quality is good, sound high quality very good, and night vision is excellent, I would get this again..A+
